Child Agriculture

For our TED talk project we have to dig deeper into our topics. I have chose child labour but then chose child agriculture. Child agriculture is the biggest type of child labour. It is very tough on children and involves lots of work. They ave to grow crops, pick them for processing, carry around loads of grain, pick fruits and vegetables and work machines to process the grain. I cant imagine how hard it would be to work in the heat and get up  every morning at 6 or 7 and work all day getting paid a few cents a day. These kids never get to go to school and that is most of their dreams.

The reason I chose this topic is because I am very interested in how children have to labour and farm because I know a few farmers and how tough some of the work can be so id like to se kids prospectives and see how different their lives are from our and how good and lucky we are to get to go to school and not have to be forced to work hard jobs.

Why Should I Care? Child Labour

In school we are doing our own TED talk. We each have to pick an important topic that we think is an issue. I have picked child labour for many reasons.

Reasons: I care about child labour because while i’m at school having a good  with my friends and when i’m out ski-dooing then several kids across the world are working some pretty bad jobs. They have to work because their parents dont have enough money so if their kids work they will get more. Children start working as young as five and as old as seventeen. They work in jobs like agriculture, factories, mines etc. Some of these jobs can be very dangerous because they are working with heavy machines and breathing in dangerous fumes. Although number have gone down in the last four years child labour is still a big issue for kids in Asia and the south Pacific.

For this project I think I am going to describe a little bit about this topic then make a power point show on google document or a voice-thread about it.
