Chapters 11+12

In the last two chapters of the book this is what happened.

*Ponyboy looks through an old yearbook and finds a picturer of Robert Sheldon or otherwise Bob the soc that had been killed.

*Randy comes to see Ponyboy in bed and to talk to him about Bobs death and taking it to court.

*Ponyboy is declared of not killing Bob.

*Ponyboy stands up for himself at the store and scares the soc away.

*Ponyboy is getting bad grades.

*Ponyboy writes his assignment on everything that happened over the book starting at the movies.

For this chapter I chose the word friendship because that is what it talks about. I think that Randy and Ponyboy are starting to get a relationship because they have chats about important issues and talk about how to solve them. Ponyboy is starting to do badly in school. I think that is because Dally and Johnny died so he lost two friends. I also think this because he had lots going on in his life. He saved those kids from the fire and got put in the hospital then got put on bed rest because he got a concussion from the rumble. I really like how the book ends because it talks about how he calls up the teacher and asks if the report could be longer. He then starts to write about Johnny and basically everything that happened in his life or the book. I think that he will write about how Johnny killed the guy and got beat up by the soc and was abused and stuff. I think that Johnny had a pretty rough life but Ponyboy made it better and at least he got to spend the few last minuets of it with him and at least he knew that the greasers had beat the socs and had gotten their rights. That’s all I think Johnny really wanted. I am also happy that Ponyboy anded up being able to stay with his brothers because life would be horrible without him and they protect him all the time. There wasn’t one time in the book where I think Darry meant to hurt him. He just has a hard life and a little anger sometimes like everyone else.

Chapters 9 and 10

In these chapters there is tons happening. It is the chapter of death and the big rumble. I have decided to choose friendship for this chapter because that is what it talks about. All of the greasers have to work together to beat the socs in the big rumble. They show up to the rumbl in the vacant lot and all the greasers were there. Dally shows up because he got them to addmit him from the hospital. Ponyboy fights too because he is feeling well enough to. First Darry steps up and no one wants to fight him until his old friend steps up. The rumble begins. The greasers win! this being for that the socs had used a weapon. After that Dally and Ponyboy go to tell Johnny that they have won and he dies. Dally runs out, robs a convenience store and gets shot. He is happy he is dead. I think that was a dumb idea but I know he wanted death. He was nothing without Johnny. Ponyboy goes home and he is feeling really sick. He is bleeding in the head and everything. He ended up getting a concussion and had been asleep for a few days. I think he got it because of when that guy hit him in the head.

I thought this was an important part of the book because it talks about losing friends and what it can do to you. It also talks about how it scared Darry and Soda when Pony was in that comma.

I think friendship is having a friend who cares for you, needs you, helps you when you are hurt or sad and would do anything for you. Some friendships are strong and are like having a sister or brother. Friends are very important.

Chapters 7 and 8

In chapters 7 and 8there was lots going on. It starts off by saying the three of us were in the waiting room waiting to see Dallas and Johnny. They were still in the hospital from the fire. Johnny was in critical condition and Dallas was doing fine. It says that Johnny’s parents come to see him i the hospital. He doesn’t really want to see them because they ignore him all the time and the only time they see him is when they are yelling or hurting him. If my parents were like that and came to see me then I would be kind of happy because that means that they noticed me. Ponyboy is worried that Johnny might not make it because they are best buds.

Another important part of these chapters is that they are talking about the big rumble coming up. Johny and Dally cant be in it because they are in the hospital. Dally agrees to let Ponyboy be in the rumble but Darry and Soda cant find out because he is still in rough shape and is not supposed to fight.

Randy (bobs best friend and a soc) calls Ponyboy to his car. He talks about the rumble and how bob was his best friend. He talks about that even if the greaser win the rumble everything will go back to normal and the socs will still have more power than them. I thought that it was kind of weird that Randy and Pony would talk about all this. Randy also says he is not going to be in the rumble. I think that is also surprising.

At the end of chapter 8 Pony and Two-bit find Cherry in the vacant lot in her car. She says there is no weapons involved in the rumble and talks about them only seeing bobs bad side. She said he could be sweet sometimes. Liquor made him want to beat Johnny. She says she cant go see Johnny because he killed bob. She also said the sunsets can be seen on the west side good.

For these chapters I picked the word fear. I picked this word because there is the fear of loosing Johnny and the fear of the rumble and the socs. This is my chapter 1 and 8 outsiders post.

The Outsiders Chapters 5+6

The word I have picked for these chapters is survival. Survival is something that every single thing on the world needs. Sometimes survival can be tough and we have to fight for our lives like in these two chapters.

Survival: I think survival is a good word for these chapters because it talks about when ponyboy and Johny get to the church they have to fight to survive because they don’t have much food and it is very chilly. They also have to survive with safety because they cant go very many places because the cops are looking for them. Another time when they needed to fight to survive is when they went into the fire to save the kids. They went in there with nothing on but their clothes and the jacket Ponyboy was wearing. Inside the fire the roof started to cave in, There were flames and smoke everywhere and embers floating around. They went in there because they thought the fire was their fault and they didn’t want the kids to die or get hurt because of it. If I was Ponyboy and There was a fire at the church then I probably wouldn’t of went in to save the kids because I wouldn’t be able to save them but I would never be able to live with myself if I thought I had caused the fire. I wonder if it really was them that caused the fire. Ponyboy thought that a lit cigarette caused it. I have no idea about what I think caused it but what do u think caused it?

Leave your thoughts on the comments. Just to some up this post I just want to encourage other people to read this book and see what I mean about this chapter having to do with survival!
