Last night my grandma came into town. She is going to be here for a few days so i have to sleep in the basement ont the floor. I am kind of happy though because in my basement their is a computer, a tv and my guitar hero game. I stayed up late last night playing guitar hero and going on the internet so I am tired this morning. My grandma is from Dauphin and is part ukrainian. When she comes she sometimes makes perogies and cabbage rolls. If i am lucky she makes homeade donuts which are really good. When I have nothing to do I sometimes help her make perogies. They are easy to make and good to eat!

In chapters three and four of the outsiders alot happens. Johny and Ponyboy and Two-bit walk home the two girls from the theater. The Socs came because the girls were their girlfriends and they got mad. The girls got a ride ohme with them and the three boys went back home. Ponyboy walks in the door and Darry starts yelling. It was 2 in the morning and he just got home and he was in trouble. He got mad and slapped him right across the face. No one in their family had ever been slapped by another before. Ponyboy runs and gets Johny and says were running away. Johny had toruble at home to because his parents didnt even notice him and were alcoholics. Ponyboy and Johny walk to the park and sit by the fountain. Then The Socs pull up and get mad because they were with their girls earlier. Ponyboy stands up to then so they stick his head int he fountain and try to drown him. Johny pulls out his knife and kills Bob. They then find Darry. He gives them 50 dollars, a gun and a warm shirt for Ponyboy. Then they go to the church he told them about and fall asleep.

I thought this chapter was very interesting because Johny actualy killed one of the socs and the socs also went into the far east to find them. These chapters were my favourite so far and were filled with surprises!

Summary:The Outsiders is a very good novel that is pretty old. It is about The Greasers and The Socs. The Gresasers is a group of people which the main character are in Ponyboy,Soda,Darry,Dally,Two-Bit and Johny. The live in the bad part of town with all the gangs and are like brothers because Ponyboy,Darry and Sodas parent died in an accident so they all live together. The people around them that they grew up with are like their brothers. The Socs is a group of rich kids that always try to attack The Greasers. They are mean and everyone is scared of them.
Favourite part:My favourite part of these chapters was at the begining when Ponyboy was walking home from the theater he was talking about one time when Johny got beat up by the socks and then a few seconds later he runs into them. They stop him and push him to the ground. They threaten him with a knife and to kill him. He screams and Darry and Soda come over to help him. He has bruises and blood on his face but he said he wasnt as badly beaten as Johny was. I think if i was Ponyboy i would be scared out of my mind and would be balling my head off!
I think in these first two chapters it is all about family and how they all live together and without parents. I think this is going to be an interesting book with lots of events and life threatening experiences.

It’s me again just checking in! This month there is quite a bit going on. The first thing i’ll start with is volleyball.

volleyball: Volleyball has been going good so far and I have improved a lot. We have a scheduled game against Wabowden on Monday. They have two girls teams that are coming to our school to play us. If we do good at that game we might get a chance for another or a small tournament! This is my volleyball update.

Something else that is going on this month is the Halloween dance.

                Dance: Here at our school we usually have a dance for mostly every holiday. Since there is not very many people we divide our gym in half and that’s where we have the dance. There is baked goods you can buy and sometimes punch or something drink. For the Halloween-dance coming up we get to dress up in our costumes. I think it is going to be fun!!:)’

Another thing this month is Halloween. Halloween is a fun holiday because you get to dress up in costumes and go around town trick-or-treating. In our town Halloween is safe because everyone basicaly knows each other and there are not many bad things that happen here. I usually go all around town since it is not very big so I get quite a bit of candy. I don’t know what im going to be for Halloween but I guess I better start thinking!:p

There is one last thing I am going to talk about is school. School has been going good so far and we are starting to get more homework. We have two tests coming up at the end of this week and beginging of next week so I probably won’t be writing as much because I will have to study. In S.S we are learning about some interesting things. We are talking about creation stories and first humas. In math we are doing area, perimeter, circumference, problem solving, radius pi and much more! Well I have to go because this period is almost over so ttys byeee!!<3

With the kids from L.A we have been working alot with two stories and all about power and relationships. For the past two days we have been talking in private chat rooms called moodle about 4 questions about power. The other day we went live on a skype call with them and we had some technical problems but it was fun. Here is some information I got to answer the four questions.

define power: Power is having control over someone. It can make people feel bigger or smaller and is a kind of force.It can also manipulate someone and that is not very good. Some examples of power are money, love, the government and the president.

What role does power play in a persons decision making process: When people get more money they become greedy and selfish and start to loose all of their friends. It will also make people more confident so they will begin to use it more and that could break up a relationship.

Why is having power important to a person: Having power is important because you have saying over decisions over others. You can use it to your advantage and to speak out loud. You will also have control over others.

Why is having power important to a person: Having power is important because you have the power to make decisions, to dominate others, to have control and so you don’t fail in life and get stepped on.

In LA I have read two stories called The Bet and The Veldt. They seem very different when you read them but they are actually quite similar if you look at the form of speech. Many people would not think of this because it involves going through the story and looking closely while using your logic. Here are the similarities and differences.

Similarities: Some similarities between these two stories are that they both have power and relationship. In both stories the relationship is quite bad and the power strong. The Bet deals with a man who had power over another man who went to jail not for the money but to prove jail is better than death. TheVeldt has to do with the parents having no power over the children. The relationship is between the children and yes a nursery not the parents. Another way they are similar is that they both have words and sayings that we don;t or don’t say as much today.

Differences: Some of the differences between the two stories are that they take place during different times one a few decades later,they are based on different things one about a nursery and the other about a bet to stay in jail for 15 years to prove it is better than death, one takes place in the wing of a house and the other takes place at a house in the future with a nursery where what you imagine comes to life and they are based on different relationships. One relationship is between a banker and a lawyer two almost complete strangers and the other between a family that isn’t very close and that doesn’t have control over one another. As you can see there are quite a lot of differences between the two stories but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t the same because they are in ways we don’t always think of comparing stories.

This weekend is Thanksgiving. The holiday when you sit down with your family and friends and gobble down a turkey and eat all the stuffing you can! What isThanksgigng did you say and what is its purpose? While im here to tell you! Thanksgiving is a time of the year to sit with all of the people you love and look at how much me have and how lucky we are to be living in such a good free country. We also think about how people in places down in southern Africa are or the people living on the streets. This year for Thanksgiving I am staying home with my family and having a nice diner. I will be thinking about how good I have it and how nice it is to be where I am and who I am!
